GDC Caring Scholarship Winners

GDC Caring, the philanthropic arm of GDC Marketing & Ideation, has awarded its third college scholarship to Isabella Calderon, as the 2022 recipient of the Glenn Espino Scholarship. The scholarship has been established to honor the legacy of Glenn Espino, the husband of long-time GDC employee Lannette Espino. Glenn, who passed away in 2019, was a passionate advocate of education and the son of two educators. Calderon is the third person to be awarded the scholarship totaling $5,000.

“Glenn was a great man who inspired us all with his humility, strength and kindness,” said Beth Wammack, GDC Marketing & Ideation Chief Executive Officer. “His legacy of helping others will live on through this scholarship named in his honor by giving students the ability to pursue their higher education goals.”

Isabella Calderon graduated from the Design and Technology Academy (DATA) magnet school program at Roosevelt High School in 2022. Her mother, Norma Rabago, was a former account executive at Guerra DeBerry and Company, now GDC Marketing & Ideation.

Isabella demonstrated high academic aptitude, with a 4.0 GPA and has started her first year as a communication design major at the University of North Texas with an eye to becoming a graphic designer. Aside from her academic excellence, Isabella was president of the Roosevelt High School World Language Club, senior lighting tech for Roosevelt Theater Company productions, and a violinist in the school’s orchestra. In addition to academic excellence and numerous extra-curricular activities, Isabella accumulated more than 120 hours of volunteer work over her four years of high school.

We are honored to have Isabella as the third beneficiary of the Glenn Espino Scholarship.

The Glenn Espino Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who are planning to attend college, and who are the children or grandchildren of current or former GDC Marketing & Ideation employees.
